Business Economics


The business economics school is comprised of a professional staff with real world experience. Courses range from traditional discipline in topics such as marketing, management, price theory, and the micro and macro world of economics. Courses also include topics on information and computer technologies as they relate to business.

The world of business is dynamic and must rapidly adapt and evolve to meet the needs of the economy. The business and economics school at UMF is no exception as we incorporate current, real world applications into courses to prepare our students to deal with the road ahead.

This unique program which provides the foundations of both business and economics, while developing the communication skills and technical literacy required in today's business world.  As a business economics major at UMF, you will work with faculty members to develop skills and conduct research in economic theory, accounting, management, marketing, finance, and quantitative and computer applications.  You will focus on micro, national and global business environments, using computer simulations, case studies, supervised research projects, real-world business applications and state-of-the-art technologies.

In our program students thrive in an academic culture with high  expectations for active learning, collaboration among students, extensive contact with faculty, and that education is integrated with hands-on experience. Also, our student have the opportunity for an internship in different organizations as well.     

As the business world becomes more complex, job opportunities are often limited to those professionals with well-rounded academic training.  UMF provides the useful education that prepares you for jobs in the private or public sector as well as for graduate study in either business or economics.  UMF has an articulation agreement with Bentley College that identifies UMF course equivalents in the McCallum Graduate School of Business Master's degree programs. Business Economics majors can earn their Master's in Business Administration (MBA) in the graduate program at Bentley College - McCallum Graduate School of Business.

Students are encouraged to participate in the Business Economics Club.  Many of our Business Economics students participate in the SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) organization.
