Innovative Four Season Outdoor Recreation Interdisciplinary Major Launched at UMF
October 23rd, 2009

A new Four Season Outdoor Recreation Program, including an innovative interdisciplinary major in Outdoor Recreation Business Administration, has recently been announced at University of Maine at Farmington. The new degree will be available at UMF beginning in fall 2010 and will offer students an extensive academic program to prepare them for a broad range of industry-related jobs. According to Mainebiz, the University collaborated with an advisory board of people in the outdoor recreation industry to shape the program's curriculum. In addition to the new academic major, the program also includes an extra-curricular component that will focus on outdoor recreation activities sponsored by the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center and on campus student clubs and an outreach collaborative aimed at building community partnerships.
